While I'm not entirely sure that this was actually a commandment or part of any other religious-moral imperative, it probably should have been… Definitely a missed chance there somewhere—that's all I'm saying.
Still, whether or not it was written in stone, it seems pretty obvious that you shouldn't be complaining about what your coworkers are wearing while your dogs are currently nestled and cozy directly on the office's beige-patterned carpet. At least go put some shoes on first so that you're covering your hypocrisy.
Making any judgments or comments about someone else's appearance really just isn't ok (and a great way to get yourself a one-way ticket to HR), and this is definitely a moral imperative of any reasonable workplace culture. Besides, when you're currently roleplaying as a hobbit, you really haven't got a (hairy) leg (or foot) to stand on.
